Give the castle and town a full outing, including the uphill approach. A chairlift trip, when operating, is a separate visitor attraction; do not rely on it as the only way to complete your day.

There is no rail station in Vianden. Use the free domestic Luxembourg bus network for the last leg after a train to Ettelbruck or Diekirch.
