Answers to the most common pass questions

Read the practical answers below and check the linked official rail information sources when travelling. Railway conditions can change faster than published destination guides.

Is Eurail Benelux Pass still available?

The pass was renamed the Interrail Benelux Pass during the September 2026 brand consolidation. Older Eurail searches generally refer to the same three-country regional pass.

Which countries does a Benelux Rail Pass cover?

The Benelux region consists of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Only participating trains and operators are covered; travel outside those three countries is not automatically included.

How many travel days can I choose?

Common options are 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 rail travel days within one month. Check the retailer for current options and prices.

Do I need seat reservations?

Most conventional national rail services do not need seat reservations. Eurostar and some other international or overnight services may require a paid reservation or passholder fare.

Is travel free in Luxembourg?

Ordinary domestic second-class trains, buses and trams in Luxembourg are free. First-class and international travel are different.

Can Belgian, Dutch or Luxembourg residents buy the pass?

Residency rules matter. A resident of one of the three countries generally cannot use the Benelux One Country Pass for travel within their own country of residence, although they may use it in the other covered countries under the pass conditions.

Does the Benelux Pass cover Paris, Cologne or London?

No: a Benelux Pass is not a through ticket to London, Paris or Cologne. Journeys outside the three-country region need suitable additional coverage or a different ticket or pass. Selected continental Brussels–Amsterdam Eurostar trains have specific Benelux-pass rules and paid reservations; that is not a general Eurostar entitlement.

Does it cover Brussels Airport trains?

The relevant rail service may accept the pass, but the special Brussels Airport station supplement (Diabolo) can still apply.

Can I reach Vianden by train?

Not directly. Take a train to a suitable northern Luxembourg station such as Ettelbruck or Diekirch and then connect by ordinary public bus.

Does a Benelux rail pass include museum entry and Viator tours?

No. Museums, guided attractions and city experiences are normally booked separately, although passholder discounts may be available for selected participating partners.

How do I receive and use the pass?

The current product is issued as a mobile pass, and travellers use the Rail Planner app for setup, activation and journey recording. Follow the issuer’s current instructions.

Is a rail pass cheaper than regular tickets?

Sometimes, particularly for multiple longer journeys and flexible days. For a few short trips, advance train fares or days spent entirely in Luxembourg, ordinary tickets may cost less.
